We were looking for a paperless archive for storage of our documents.

We looked at CCH Document and Doc.It. We went with Doc.It because it was a standard Windows structure, and with Doc.It, we would not be locked into a database. We liked the freedom of being able to take our documents with us at
WHAT IMPROVED IN YOUR FIRM AFTER IMPLEMENTING DOC.IT?
We were able to greatly reduce offsite storage of paperless documents. Since we started using Doc.It, we have not put any documents into our offsite storage.

WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CONCERN REGARDING DOC.IT?
We have been using Doc.It since 2008. A slight concern back then was that Doc.It was not a large company like Wolters Kluwer. Doc.It is still around today and they have grown.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A PARTNER OR IT PROFESSIONAL WHO HAS THAT SAME CONCERN?
We have worked with Doc.It for many years: Their product is stable. Their support has been great. We appreciate Doc.It’s focus on their product; they are not trying to sell everything to everybody.
WAS DOC.IT A DIFFICULT CHANGE FOR THE FIRM?
Not particularly. We mostly use Doc.It Archive for storage and the Web Portal module for the exchange of documents with clients; it did not change our workflow.

We are now in 2016. Most companies should be using some form of digital document archiving.
DID DOC.IT HELP YOU WITH PROCESS IMPROVEMENT?
Doc.It has streamlined tasks, such as searching for archived documents and sharing documents with clients. Doc.It has reduced the amount of time it takes to do the exchanges.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A PARTNER OR IT PROFESSIONAL CONCERNED ABOUT PROCESS IMPROVEMENT?
Because the volume of documents being stored is so high, you need to be able to access and share them quickly. All companies should be using some form of digital document archiving and file sharing.
HOW DID THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS AND TRAINING GO?
Implementation with Doc.It was fine. Because our firm is French, our IT department created our own training materials.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A PARTNER OR IT PROFESSIONAL CONCERNED ABOUT IMPLEMENTATION AND TRAINING?
Because our firm is French, our IT department had to do a little more work. This was not a bad thing; we were able to focus our training on what we wanted to focus on.
